Admission control
Automated checks that intercept a deployment and validate it against policy before it is created.
AIOps
AI-assisted IT operations (e.g. correlating alerts, predicting failures).
APM — Application Performance Monitoring
Tooling that tracks the health, performance, and errors of running applications (e.g. traces, response times, throughput).
CALMS
Culture, Automation, Lean, Measurement, Sharing — a lens for DevOps culture maturity.
CSA Agentic Trust levels
Cloud Security Alliance trust tiers for AI agents: Intern → Junior → Senior → Principal.
Data lineage
Traceability of where data came from and how it was transformed along the way.
Data mesh
A decentralised data architecture where domains own and serve their own data as products.
DORA metrics
Four delivery measures: deployment frequency, lead time, change-failure rate, recovery time.
Golden path
A paved, opinionated, reusable way to build and deploy a common pattern.
IaC — Infrastructure as Code
Infrastructure defined in version-controlled files (e.g. Terraform, Bicep) instead of manual clicks.
IDP — Internal Developer Platform
A self-service platform teams use to provision and deploy without raising tickets.
Inner-source
Applying open-source ways of working (shared repos, contributions) inside the company.
LLM observability / LLMOps
Seeing into AI model/agent behaviour (tokens, latency, drift) and operating LLMs in production.
MDM — Master Data Management
A single, governed source of truth for key business data entities.
OpenTelemetry
An open standard for collecting traces, metrics, and logs.
Policy-as-code (OPA/Rego, Kyverno)
Rules written as code and enforced automatically in pipelines/clusters.
RAG — Retrieval-Augmented Generation
Lets an AI draw on your own documents and data when answering.
SBOM — Software Bill of Materials
